I have recorded on a limited budget, through a Grace 101 to a Zoom DAW that is 7 years old, mic MXL v69......I got a macbook as a gift and wanted to record on it....bought this because of Apogee's rep with the Mini and Ensemble.......I was looking at the MH ULN-2....but I have zero regrets with the duet...

I'am very happy with the Duet, pres and converters are very clear, Im no pro by any stretch, but I can't believe how much time I wasted recording on this other gear, because the sound of this thing is making me retrack every song I ever wrote. The Duets pres are IMO better than the Grace, and I loved the Grace, but the truth hurts, I ran the Grace through the Duet and the results were a step down, a bit smeared and less detail, which i didn't want to believe.....I will still experiment with the Grace through the Duet however to try and get better sound with it.

I play acoustic songs and it sounds really good with out EQ and Comp, I think better without it on some songs......

Its a real simple choice for someone at my level of experience with gear, $495 what a joke.....no brainer

I wish I had more time to record all of a sudden....

A week latter I opened the trim on the Grace and pulled back the gain to about 12 o'clock and it sounded really nice, even a little better than the Duets pres......so considering the source louder seems to like the Duets pres, and mid level the Grace 101 is great.....for now I like the result of the Grace the best....on acoustic guitar, and the Duet is very very good...
