Uggggghhh. Allison Krauss. She may have been the best thing on that show, but she's infiltrated every alternative country and blue-grass station that I listen too.

What a pain it is to hear her after hearing Gillian Welch do something beautiful.

You want good country? John Prine, G. Welch, Steve Earle, Emmylou, Townes Van Zant. The good stuff. These people write songs that are worth listening to.

Okay, sorry for the rant. Bad country really bugs me because good country is so good.
So many people don't realize that it's impossible to do anything good in country music without some degree of subtlety. The really really good players are just pure sound and mood. They're hardly playing anything. And when they do take a break and do something fancy the tone and phrasing is usually thoughtful, well placed, and perfect for the place it takes up.
