strobo soft Is cheaper cuz it's just sw. I mean the real strobes are electro/mechanical The cheaper units are 'virtual strobe' tuners not real strobes. A real strobe tuner is mechanical and more waaaaaay more acurate than quartz or cheaper digital tuners.
With the strobosoft it basically just comes down to it has a kickass algorithm that emulates a strobe. It's not a real 'strobe' but emulates one.
I'm sure the stroboflip and the other virtual models just have the strobosoft emedded into the firmware. Those are 200+ because they still need hardware to execute and display what's on the eprom right?
The strobosoft uses your computer hardware so all your paying for is essentially petersons virtual strobe algorithm.
Their stuff kicks ass. The software, the virtual strobes like the flip and the mechanical strobes like the old conn's. They are all really good
The bottom line is if you don't tune to a strobe your not in tune. If you tune to a Piano well that's just another can of worms I don't have time to address.
Tempered Tuning and gtrs is complicated
