If the apogee is going in via the mac's lightpipe interface, then yes the mac needs to be set to external.
In the first example you've only got one system, the 2 parts being connected by data streams across firewire (hence the apogee is the internal clock of the system). in the second example only the audio stream is connecting them, so they're 2 separate devices. |
Sorry I should have been more specifc, I'm using a Symphony system, so the Rosetta is connected via the PCIe cable from the card inside the 200 to the PCIe card in the Mac, like Pro Tools would be....
