San Diego up date here,
I got caught in the back country this weekend (Ramona) couldn't evacuate due to road closer and fire. literally got sand blasted and my girlfriends truck got smashed by a falling tree. winds were estimated @60 mph+!!! most of my neighbors houses burnt to the ground. ours was lucky due to we live on a horse ranch surrounded by large dirt fields. although we spent the night in my van when we weren't moving to a safer place every couple hours. no sleep or shower for over two days. due to no power, water or food. thank gawd for wireless lap tops and cell towers that wouldn't die !!!!!
Propane tanks were exploding all night and some animals were burned alive. people just left them to die (couldn't evacuate) much worse that the 2003 fires here (I was here then too) am ok now though. hope this is the last time this happens!!!! -klauth.
