But we used denser fiberglass. I wanted to get owens corning but due to budget and time issues had to go with the home depot stuff. I didnt take any measurements, but the room sounds noticeably better then the 2" and 4" foam that was up previously. Regarding corner trapping, you can't see it from the pics, but there is a futon in one corner of the room and stack of "tupperware" boxes filled with books in the other. Eventually hoping to build some dedicated corner traps as well as suspend some panels from the ceiling.
Cable,
If you just plan on flat mounting panels like you have on the wall then they would work fine for mids and high frequencies, but for bass traps you need to have open backs (no wood covering the back side) to make it work. The panel would need to straddle the corner or mounted off the wall 4". FYI even mounting the panel off the wall 4" helps but to really bass trap you would want to straddle corners. See our lab report here to see panels on recommended wall mounting vs. corner mounting. Link here GIK Acoustics

Would hate to see you build something that really is not going to work right for you.
