I think I get it.... this is what you get with an N12...

Getting Closer ...

12 mic pre´s Yes

12 AD converters Yes
2 DA converters No 6 DA converters. 5.1 or 3 Stereo Buses must have 6 D/As
When using 5.1 there is REAL LFE bass management as well.

A daw control section for stop and play, rewind.. etc.. yes when used with non Cubase 4 or Nuendo 4 DAW. Much more when used with Steinberg products with AI function downloads

Digital EQ, Compressor, and Rev-x reverb Yes

mix 12 tracks down using the console eq, compresor, reverb,or vst´s in the plugin bin on the tracks in cubase. with any DAW because you are using 16 Firewire outs. If you are clever, you can do much, much more. The inital templates are for ease of use for 90% of people using the DAW.
Look at the block diagram :
DAW outs 1-6 are for monitoring 1&2-Bus A 3&4-Bus B 5&6-Bus C
DAW outs 7-16 n Channel strip inputs 1-12

I was kinda under the impression , like a poster above, that this console had analog eq, and compressor, and there were DA converters from cubase out to the console.

Although that sounds like a good idea, it would add latency, phasing and actually lessen the pristine specs of this board. The specs are analog specs, no smoke and mirrors.
We are trying to get demo models out over the US now, because hearing it tells all.
Each of us will judge for ourselves what is "our sound " .

So, does this mean, that upon mixdown, if I want to use the console, I only have 12 tracks from cubase that can be mixed down on the console ?

No not at all. That's just the beginner's template to get you started. Cubase or any other DAW has buses with assignable outputs. I use 12 group faders. 8 Mono and 2 Stereo just like I would do with a Large Format console.

See the flexibility??

if you´d hurry and make two of these linkable.... it would be more appealing to studios with a need for more track counts.

It was released for WindowsXP/Vista last week. I connected (2x n12s and a n8) (n12&01X&i88X) for test. I had more I/O than I would want to use New mLAN Driver

So, in conclusion, this is a 12 channel interface, that makes mixing easier,by using hardware ..real knobs...etc... ,

No it's 12X6 analog, 16X16 Digital

taking people´s eye´s off their computer screens so they can concentrate on the music... I like the idea... becuase it´s hard to close your eyes, and listen to the music while tweeking your favorite plugin

Now, with these new updates, I think you have it !
