I have been told that location is not important, but the majority of people where I live now seem to do music as more of a hobby rather than a profession. I figured that relocating to somewhere with a bigger music scene would help to lengthen my list of contacts. I interned in London earlier this summer and absolutely loved the city. Easily in my top five favorite cities. I only wish I could afford to move there (cost of living there is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind having to learn a different language if there were enough reasons to move to a non-english speaking country.
