Having run a record label with major distribution for over 17 years, I can tell you for certain that the amount of money being generated by ITunes does not offset what is being lost by file sharing, burned CD's and MP3's....and while no one is mourning the implosion of major labels, let's not forget that there are plenty of amazing independent labels who are feeling the crunch as well. It all trickles downwards folks...less revenue equals smaller recording budgets.
