I started out using fruity loops..after a year or two i decided to step it up to what some of the big dogs were using and purchased an mpc 1000. I really didnt notice a sound difference.. if so, it was very minimal. So a week later I decided to return the mpc and got into using reason and never looked back. I really favor FL but reason has a little more to offer so I stuck with it.

But to answer the question. With the right plugs and mixing techniques I dont think it matters what you use in terms of quality. Its what your most comfortable with.
