I use Sonar for MIDI (although I don't use a ton of vstis) and Samplitude for a lot of my vanilla audio needs. I'm impressed by the performance options in Reaper which allow it to run heavier projects more smoothly than other hosts. Personally, I'm not one to get in debates over which product ppl should use. A lot of that sort of thing is subjective. However, Reaper is a very viable product and should be an option if you're looking for a replacement or you're just now looking to join the DAW world. I've used it to track and mix a couple of 50+ track projects. You certainly can't beat the price.
