MIDI implementation and development seems to establish the reaper enjoyment threshold for a lot of people. I tried reap maybe 7 months ago and couldn't stand the thing (for a lot of reasons). and I too was relieved to get back to Nuendo with no intention of even trying reaper again. for some reason, and really, the reason was watching steinberg screw up cubase 4, I decided to try reap again -- it had come a long way since my previous encounter with it. I'm about 80/20 audio/midi so as it is now, midi is fine for my needs. I suspect that it will not be long (maybe incremental or perhaps in one swoop) reap will make progress in the area of midi...you might not have to wait long to get value out of it.

One thing, the file system caused a lot of problems for a lot of people but I found that there are several options in the project creation dialogue, for managing files ... I don't know how long they've been there but it appears that file creation and storage is a lot more sensible at this time...

anyway, we'll see how it gets along
