I use them daily side by side. The TG1 give a more chesty/big sound to the vocal than an 1176. The 1176 is more flexable and has a more "forward" sound as well as being a very familiar sound. I've never really a/b'd them per se, and ususally go 1176-->La2a for vox simply because I have the TG1 (and now a zener) on other duties more often than not. I find the Tg1/Zener has much more impact on drums and acoustic guitars than an 1176 would so it doesn't get the chance to see vox duties as much as it should.
