Gish, Siamese Dream, and Melon Collie are three of my favorite albums. I own over thirty hard-copy Pumpkins discs. They used to be my favorite band.

Then their keyboard player OD'd, Jimmy was kicked out, and it all went to sh*t. Every subsequent album has been horribly mediocre compared to their first three efforts. This album is, quite possibly, the worst of them all (Zwan included!)

First off, it sounds sub-par considering the talent behind the project. I was dissapointed. It sounds like a garage "demo" to me. Bad production too, the backup vocals sound very amateurish, and the whole album could be re-done vocally.

Secondly, Corgan continues his endless tirade of mediocre, uninspired, half-assed songwriting. If your voice is getting even more and more intolerable, you should try to write better songs, not worse songs! I wonder: Does anybody actually think that Billy Corgan thinks that any song off of Adore, Machina, or Zeitgeist is better than any one of his songs off of the Pumpkins' first three albums? Cuz if he does, he's even more gone than he enjoys letting on. I mean, maybe "Stand Inside Your Love" is better than "Cupid De Locke," but that's about it!

I won't bother going into a track-by-track analysis, it's not worth the time.

The Pumpkins are still, in my mind, one of the greatest bands of all time. Billy is an amazing guitarist too (extremely under-rated in this respect.) They just lost their way.

P.S. James Iha didn't play on the majority of their recorded material either.
i completely agree.

sounds like we had the same upbringing, Pumpkins used to be my all-time fav as well. i got almost all of their songs ever released, major and bootleg wise, as well as interviews, live shows, demo's etc.

SP started to lose it around Mellon-Collie. someone mentioned Flood may have to do with this?

altho, "i of the Mourning" is a brilliant track.

SP just need to get Butch Vig back into the mix.
