I have both. The AKG is very nice for some vocal and is a condenser mic.
The old md 421 is a fantastic Mic for brass instruments. I prefer these over the RE-20. Look for the older ones. Beige Color. Looks ugly, sounds great ! They are often on ebay for around 200 $. I dont know a better mic for the buck.
