Hi,
thanks for discussing this.
ASAP, the MIXOSAURUS DAW Drums manual will be available for download as well as a collection of video tutorials showing MIXOSAURUS' controls in action. My rough estimate is that the manual could be online in about a week, the videos will take longer...probably 1st week of July.
Jake,
regarding the size - well obviously I would've liked it to be smaller. Truly. Sending a few DVDs around the globe sounds easier and cheaper than a pre-installed harddrive. Unfortunately, a multitracked drumset is a demanding instrument. Great dynamics, great diversity, lots of possible articulations, lots of human deviations - and all this multitracked.
What I've done is record a drumset using 20 mic tracks, convert using 24bits, wait patiently for each sound to fade, include all those articulations that a drummer might use (without getting too esoteric), record as many velocity layers as I felt appropriate (which is 20 btw), include as many HiHat foot pressure levels as I felt appropriate (which is 7 btw) - and record each hit 7 times for alternating playback (you guessed it - that's what I feel is appropriate to allow for even the "stiffest" groove to sound human, or to allow fast Snare and Tom fills to sound cool).
If you do this and decide to NOT use any bit reduction or other trickery, or to limit the available articulations too much, then you'll likely end up with 122 GB.
Best regards from Berlin, Germany
