I sincerely hope that you were using ear plugs. I would not consider going to ANY live music event without having my musicians ear plugs.
Musicians ear plugs yield a flat response to the ear so the sound is excellent, just attenuated. I use them at concerts, when gigging, even when riding motorcycles or driving convertibles... etc
