Saving a few more bones for a TLM103 or MG930 sucks less than buy something that you basically have to plan on replacing from day one. Even a used SM81 will blow these options out the door.
An SM7 can be had for about 350 new. There is another option.
But, if your buying a LD condenser for the apperance only, I would suggest.........rethinking your plan.
Watch the bay...if you do a search for 414, geffel, sm81, and hell a beta58.....You will be suprised at how cheap you can get into something that will suck less.
If you want have the music shop hook up a 57 and the beringer.
I think you will be suprised.
Large diaphram/condenser don't mean sh!t.
Buying something that has a track record not only insures a better likelyhood of joy but, you can sell it for what you paid in most cases. Even a 57.
