I have been reading most of your posts to learn and I have learned a lot.
I have a very question that I have been having for the last couple of months.
At our studio (where I am a head engineer), we have a speaker cable for guitar amps in the control room, and the cable goes to another room for cabinets for plays to play loud and hear their tone from the main monitors.
I think that is typically standard (right? In Japan it is.)

My biggest concern is that many playsers who come to the studio do not have much experience, and our monitors sound too good. (Tannoy little gold) and the other ones (NS 10M) sound too cloudy for me to capture the details.
When guitar play in front of the Little Golds, they seem to make sounds maddy because the Tannoys produce a lot of detailed highs, and they sound harsh to them, but a lot of moden rock music sounds harsh on good monitors (or should I say real flat monitors), anyway. I tell them this is how an aggressive and loud guitar should really sound, and they say they understand, but when their guitar player plays... maddy!

I wonder if I should use 10Ms, but I do not hear the bass on those. (I could only guess.) The little Golds are very good when recording the bass.

What would you think about this? What is your typical monitoring environment to record loud guitar? (when a guitar player plays himself and overdubs.)

Best Regards,

nama
If your player is having trouble hearing his sound in the control room, get him out of there. Put him in the room where the speaker cabinet is so he can feel his sound and get vibed up.
That's all I can think of.
