The Mark II of this mic is just supposed to be quiter and smoother, but I personally have the original one and i think it sounds great...I may have to buy the new one and let you know how it sounds compared to the old one. Trust me, this mic wit a good pre and you have urself a good set-up. Now if you want thick vocals with a lot of bottom, you may want to pick up something else, perhaps a rode K2 or even a nt1a, but for airy vocals, its can be achieved with the c1 just don't use eq on it and start boosting.....Mo..I hear good things about the CAD's but have not gotten to try it myself...What do you think about them?
