The tweeter is a monopole version of the Heil Air Motion Transformer, and was extremely popular in the '70's as used in speakers from ESS. ESS still makes both the dipole and monopole versions of that driver, if you like to roll your own. ADAM hasn't reinvented the wheel, they just put it to good use. I believe Eaton of Germany makes their version of the AMT.
