I've just got a quick question regarding the bassline in "California" by Phantom Planet - specifically the entry into the 2nd verse, where the bass enters a couple of bars late with a funky little rundown. I've always thought this sounded like a "deliberate mistake" - ie the bassplayer forgot to come in, but the result was great so the part was kept (I've also thought this about the drums entry in Oasis's "Wonderwall").
Would love to know if that actually was the case!
