The thinner the wood frame, the less stable,
a 1"x2" will be a lot less stable (structurally) than a 1"x4", 1"x6", or 2"x4".
but if the frame is filled with rockwool, the frame is supported by it.
standard wood screws will work for wood, and there will be less splintering/cracking if you pre-drill the holes.
screws and glue will work better.
I used polyscreen wrap on my standing 2'x8' panels, and combined with the fabric and tight fit of the panel, I am more concerned with the panels falling over than the rock-wool exiting the panels.
keep in mind that these panels aren't meant to be tossed around though...
