A little late here, but . . .
Upon purchasing a set of newly THX certified HR824's, the GC sales guy had to comment how the newer models were so much cooler because "now they've got THX installed." As if it were a hardware addition or something.
In their defense, (I had a brief stint selling for Musician's Friend), the mark-up on pro audio gear is practically nil, which means the commission is nil, which means the paycheck is nil, which means the effort to stay involved and educated is nil. My 15% employee discount couldn't be used sometimes because it would take me below the purchase price of the gear.
But I agree, asking a question about pro audio gear at GC is like purposely stepping on a rake. You should know better, so you deserve the results.
