I think it's nicer to have a brighter room with some response, nice reverb. The main thing is to control the spots where you get in trouble - first order reflection and control the low end. If you can find a way to control the room response and still have a live sound to the room you are in heaven. I over-treated my old room and I can tell you this: it's no fun - you need some love back from the walls. Not all reflections are evil. My main goal is to have a bold room that works both for tracking and mixing. I really want to get the bass solid - maybe I need to update my monitors - the krk v4 are a bit bass shy, maybe add a sub - I don't know yet. I'm still "under construction".

I think you do better without a carpet - but I have no numbers, proof... Just poetry!
