Thanks for all the info guys.

Actually, the Grant Green kinda sound is what I am trying to stay away from. I find it really easy to get that percussive, thin bright sound with both the rodes and also just sm57's and the like.

The sennheiser certainly seems like a good idea, ill follow that up.

Also, the ribbon mic's are an avenue I haven't even though of. I will definitely have a look into. Generally, what are there advantages/disadvantages compared to condensors?

And thanks roonsbane, but im certainly looking for something to bring out a guitar as a solo voice rather than an ensemble part.

Sound wise I guess im looking for a rosenwinkle/monder kind of sound, albeit with a bit more bite.
