Gold sparkle Rogers sound file

This is from the same gig when the pic of the gold sparkle Rogers kit was taken that I posted a few posts up (the huge pic...sorry again for not making it smaller but what the heck, you can see it better).

Yeah, the maxi-pad D.B. muffler . . . the live sound guys (this club had them, believe it or not, so we piggy-backed off them to do the live recording---took channels off their board)...did that . . . maybe it helped...

A note on the recording...those are Beyer ribbon mics on the toms, they worked pretty well. I went through their board which was a good, brand-new board (forget the brand name)...straight into my Alesis HD-24. From there, when I did this mix, I was still using my Behringer digital mixer, so the mix was done there. Now I use Cubase so the mix would sound significantly better on that, just haven't had the time (will I ever? Who knows).

The "matching" snare on this kit is actually a ca. 1962 Rogers Luxor six-lug snare (mid-level model, the top-of-the-line had eight or ten lugs, otherwise it's the same pretty much, same shell) but for a six-lug, it really kicks a$$. Buddy Rich was a Rogers endorsee around this time and many think his drums sounded the best during this era. The shell on this drum is perfectly made (even though, yes, it probably has poplar ply in the middle...it still gives it that vintage vibe though).
