I've been using Mix Saturator for years. I wish I had more control over it and I find that it's high end compresson, while doing soemthing pleasing... isn't doing that "tape thing" to the transients at all. The low end is the same situation, it gives the hype but doesn't do some of the smooth roll-off that happens with tape. I know I'm making broad generalizations as there are many varieties of "tape sound," but I find PSP, being the best I've found in DX/VST, lacks a comprehensive set of controls (tape speed etc).
If UAD could come up with one that really addressed some of the features that exist for PT users, I'd have my credit card in hand immediatly.
