I like putting PZM's on the opposite wall as well for an 'ambience without too much roominess' sound.
A bit of a throwaway statement coming, but worth stating.
Take what you have at hand and try to do something interesting with it- you might find an omni works well some days, or micing the guitarists right hand to get some pick attack (I do this a lot). |
A figure 8 or omni can actually rock quite a bit on guitar amps.
