I have just started working at a studio. They have the following pre's. 2 Vintech X73's, 1 Vintech 273, and an Avalon 737sp. They also have a PreSonus Digimax. Currently the drums are all run through the Digimax. What would you switch around using the existing pre's for recording live drums? Also, as a part 2 to this question, what would you suggest when I take my pre's over there? I have an Avalon 737sp, Universal Audio 2-610, Neve/Averill 33114, and an API 512b. Just curious what some of you would use for drums with these pre's.
I like neves on drums. I'd try a mixture of the pres you have against the digimax. I'd use that as a last resort. 273 for overheads, x73 for kick, brent averill for snare maybe, toms on api. EXPERIMENT.

I usually use focusrite and neve modules. I've been in sessions where four channel api and GML pres were used and the results were great.
