I'm hoping that I can control some of the reflections by treating the ceiling - I'm thinking the sound bounch back and forth between the console and ceiling and if I can tame the ceiling some of those dips will go away. I will experiment until I have something good that I can live with. Of course speaker placement will play a big roll now when I know how much of a difference it makes just to move the speakers tiny steps forth and back etc.

The best thing to do for the ceiling is build 4 to 6 2'x4' panels that are either 2" or 4" thick. Hang them from the ceiling down about 2". That will take care of those nasty reflections coming off the ceiling.
