The differences are the tube, pattern switch in mic body opposed to being in the power supply as in the GT, different cable and Tuchel connector (smaller, more affordable) and as mentioned different electronics. The CM-7 will have the really expensive swivel mount which is probably another $400 touch by itself. The transformer is the same on both. The steel tube is an expensive item, plus the polar pattern switch mounted in the capsule is an expensive piec in it's own right. All the extras add up to the the price difference.

If I had the cash, I'd still buy a regular CM-7 over the GT and think nothing of it, but I don't, so the GT is for me.

Don't think of the CM7 is a rip off now because they really are two different mics.

The CM7 Tuchel connector cable isn't swivel mount anymore.
