Macbook should be fine then. Use the saved cash for software (or to save up for a used or refurb desktop machine)
Bonus tip: You'll want to connect to wireless hot spots on tour, and the Alluminum case on the MB Pro SUCKS HARD on reception. VERY bad! The Macbook, OTOH, seems like it can pick up a signal a mile a way!
Also, you won't feel so bad about the MB getting road wear vs. a $2000+ MBP.
