Acoustic guitars, and also if you remember O'deseays vocal chain...out of curiosity...
You know, I just did a spot listen through it, and for some reason i'm having a hard time remembering the technical recording details about this particular record. The song titles are not even familiar! Me and my big mouth...

Anyway, I was involved for the tracking phase in October of '02. I don't know how much was re-done or replaced after I was involved, but I'm pretty sure I did the acoustic with a lavalier mic and a KM 84, through the studio's API console, and an LA-3a. I can't vouch for the compression [I'm sure I compressed it a bit], although it seems like a bit more that I would do. It was probably added later. I don't remember who played -- Daniel or Conor I think. It was done in StB at the Sound Factory, with the drums in the big room, either upright piano or acoustic guitar in the iso booth. On songs with acoustic and piano I think the studio piano was used -- in the big room and baffled off.

I'm 99% sure that they kept none of the vocals, so I don't know what was used for the vocal chain.

I recorded the strings and the horns.

According to the liner notes, Brauer only mixed one song. All the rest were Tony Hoffer.

I didn't see the title 'Let's Bottle Bohemia'. Is that on the second record?

Cheers,
John
