| question about recording 2 amps (stereo pedal steel) I'm doing a country CD and on Saturday I'm recording the pedal steel player. He is going to put his steel into a Boss delay pedal - split it out into 2 amps (Vibroverb and a Steel King) and we'll have stereo sound from the steel. He delays one side a tad. He set up in the control room the other day and we tried the setup and it did sound great. So now my question and puleeeze excuse me if it's a stupid one. When I put these 2 amps in the iso booth do I need to mic them with 2 mics (one in front of each amp) or just one mic somewhere between the 2 amps. And then do I record onto one track (DP) or 2? I know it's probably obvious how to do it but I'm having brain lockup about it. If I just use 1 mic inbetween the 2 amps won't it pick up the difference in the amps and record the sound we are hearing? Or to get stereo do you need 2 mics involved.
Thanks and be kind,
