What's up folks?!?

My usual method of working is an MPC 2000 midi'd to a Emu III. However, I need to do a simple remix (from a 2 trk master - no separate tracks) and rather than chop up an entire song, I'd like to load it into a DAW and program around it.

Is there any particular DAW (or other music software) that you guys can recommend that will make this possible without being tedious? My current weapons of choice are Tracktion 2 and Sonar 6 although I have never used either for step programming - strictly recording.
