I was once asked at a session if, at the behest of the vocalist, he could record his vocals in the same room as the drums. I asked him if he simply wanted scratch tracks, but he told me that no, he liked that vibe for their records, and that anything bad could be fixed in Pro Tools later...he refused to overdub due to money (and pride)...
