Hi chrisso,
Some of my mates have moved here from the US, and Ive had heaps of 1920's radio wooden stuff posted,none of which was sprayed. Ihav'nt heard of any problems, I think that if your gear was treated, it would be like house fumigation not sprayed on or anything, Id be more worried about air pollution salty stuff. When you pack your gear you could mebbe put some chemical inside to keep the air dry. However, aussie customs should be happy to answer any questions at this end.
