Room treatment - frequency remedy

Hello,

Firstly:
Apologies, I think my post belongs to the Low end forum, but I am posting here since there has been a lot of discussion about room treatment here, and I hope to get good help here. (but then I am looking to buy speakers around 2K, and the post is about prep work, so, may be this belongs here, dont know, anyways.....)

Secondly, the background:
1. My (apt) room is 11'x13.5'x[13'vaulted max ht]
2. I read thru the various posts about room treatment, and made myself 4 bass traps of OC 703 equivalent rigid fibre glass material. I also made 2 reflectors made from 2, 2x4' hard ceiling material. Placing all these into my room instantly took out the sound reflections, thereby increasing the stereo clarity.
3. I already have 6 auralex panels(2x4) in the room.(3 behing the speakers, 2 behind me, and one split into 2, on each side of me)
4. I am using Event TR8 speakers currently (I know!!!!, I am just about to upgrade to higher end speaers with a budget of around 2k)
5. The sub 1k frequencies translate well and so do the frequencies around and above 5k.

However, I am facing a problem that I dont know how to fix.

I am experiencing a dip in the 1k to 5k frequency range, and so my mixes are sounding rather muddy and the lower end is rather boomy(?).
when played elsewhere other than in the room. I caanot get myself to invest in speakers when I am not fully sure of the room treatment.

I am needing help, opinions and suggestions, to fix this problem and I thank you advance for it.
