Um, can you explain this? I've worked with Kooster (on his API) but only as an A2 WITH the famed Silver Hewitt truck (Neve VR), plus his baby Polar Express with the matched Dm2k's- yup, just like yours--; on Randy's trucks (Neve Capricorn) and OS2 (which started with a Neve Melbourne sidecar plus the DM2000) . I'm confused as to why this (DM2000) is equated as the same as Kooster, Randy & Hewitt when their flagship consoles are API & Neve, but More importantly, How does this relate to a question about the reliability of a COMPUTER BASED HARD DISK RECORDING SYSTEM?
JD, we're not flaming, slamming, or trying to engage in a pissing match. GearSlutz is a really warm, positive environment, and instead of joining in, reading and chiming in information, suggestions, and trying to become a positive input on the site, it APPEARS- and I stress APPEARS to many readers that you are spending time trying to advertise (spamming) your business by equating your gear/service with well established companies. And that you not only seem to do it here, but in several different forums, trying to garner business. I think that MANY of us are reacting negatively to your posts because it's a real blow to the way that GearSlutz normallly functions, and it's intrusive- NOT that you intended it to be, but it has that effect.
Now, my apologies if you don't agree that this is how your posts APPEAR when read. If you read thru the posting FAQ and requirements and have read thru much of the forums, you'll note there are NO other companies trying to advertise themselves and their business here. People are VERY welcome to post a link to THEIR OWN gear or site, and I have no issue with you doing that. But you're really coming off as a guy who is trying to promote yourself with a lot of stuff that does not smell good to us on first viewing.
As a COLLEAGUE and former remote truck owner & operator I feel your pain and wish you good luck in your endeavors! Even more, perhaps, because I spend 18 years in Atlanta and know your home base well, and I have a great fondness for Hotlanta. Please let me suggest that it's time to revisit/revamp your marketing strategy, and re-introduce yourself to GearSlutz if you want to be a part of a great community that is about sharing knowledge and helping each other out.
It's hard to understand if you're trying to make clients, or actually join the forums. You know, you CAN advertise, sure, like the manufacturers do...but you have to really look at service providers and see how they communicate on not only this, but ALL forums on this site. Your own man said, (and this is a bastardized quote, my apologies) "JD, you sure ain't a salesman". I think you're accidently rubbing people here the wrong way, my friend. It's been said before, and while it may seem like people's posts are an attack on you, that is purely reactionary. People who are longtime members are putting up a defense to what they deem offensive. You (as any sane person would) view that as an attack. But you have to put yourself in their shoes and consider their perspective.
I hope this helps, and maybe you might consider taking a day or two OFF from GearSlutz to consider some of what has been said here.
Best wishes,
Jim van Bergen |
