+1 on the i5.

You will be fine with what you have suggested. It comes down to spending time with placement to find the sweet spots, tuning and room treatment.

Don't worry about the preamps so much. The placement, tuning and room are more important. I use a Soundcraft M series mixer to track drums, (cheapie mixer but with decent preamps based on their Ghost pre), and get more business because of our drum sound than any other reason.
