With all due respect to Marquette. Don't bother. Jon Helsing who frequents here does a much better job and is a lot less money. JLM out of Australia can do it very well also and it is a great deal. BUT. The man of all men who also did the 4 I own is Brian Roth who frequents here also. He went through mine and made damn good and sure that they are racked about as bullet proof as can be. I could almost drop mine off the roof and they would still function. He also makes sure that the output impedance stays at 600ohms and stay sounding the way they are supposed to. If you mess with the output impedance the Output transformers start to ring and get very bright and zippy sounding which is great for an effect but not technically right or the right thing for most applications. I have had mine for 12 years and they were previously racked by someone who shall remain nameless. They were not done correctly and never really sounded right. They sounded good but not as good as I thought they should. Also his racking job started to fall apart after a few years so I talked in detail with Brian and he lead me in the right direction. When I got them back not only did they sound totally different and really fantastic but they had about double the gain that they had before. We figured out that the previous racking hack job had only been giving me about 30 db of gain and they weren't terminated properly.
If you buy some of these gems you won't be sad as long as you have them racked correctly. They are truly a hidden diamond that thankfully doesn't get the attention they deserve. (Of course the more I talk about them they will!!!)
As I was trying to upload the file I found this thread talking about them from a while back. Scroll down the thread and the picture from me with the black unit with the green chicken head knobs are the ones that Brian did for me. Also you will find him talking about them in more detail.
Langevin am-16 or Api 312 as first preamp?
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Thanks,
Mike
