BUZZ Elixir Pre- rocks!!!

Okay, so after I finally made a decision ang bought an OSA rack and BUZZ pre, I thought I would share a bit of info. on this pre. Afterall, you all put up with my annoying questions and pointed me in a good direction.

I decided to run it against my FMR RNP ( a low priced pre, that sounds good for the money). I only had time to do a bass, guitar, and vocal track. I tracked the same exact song and did some a/b comparisons to really let my ears hear what was going on. I ran a crappy Fender Bass with dead...I mean, dead..strings...a nice Telecaster, and an Audio Technica 4033 (cause I wanted to test the 48v on the Buzz) through an RME ADI-8 straight into PT. I used no EQ, no compression, just raw tracks.

Well, when I plugged my bass into the BUZZ and hit the first note, I was, well, blown away at the sound. Holy Cow! I guess I never really knew what I was missing until I finally laid ou the cash to step up into the big leagues. The guitar was ran DI and I used Guitar Rig to add some crunch. THe BUZZ made this plugin sound 100 x better than I ever new it could! My vocals too, were so tight, focused, and up front. Now, I know that there were a very limited number of tracks, but still, my ears were not telling me any lies.

I laid down the FMR RNP tracks, and while they did sound really good, they could not even compare to the BUZZ pre tracks. It was like I finally had a breakthrough, and have heard what I want to hear all along. I used the Waves freq. analyzer plugin on the tracks and the BUZZ had a much tighter low end, focused mids, and the annoying highs seemed to roll off beautifully. I'm not an EQ expert, but I do know what I was hearing and seeing. Every single track was super punchy and tight. My mics and instruments all sounded ten times better than they have ever been recorded. I heard my converter crying tears of joy, "finally a signal I can be proud to process".

So, in short, I am totally addicted to these pres and have my eyes on adding another. Afte that, perhaps some P1's, Gammas, API's, ohhh no. Then theres the beauty of compressors, eq's, and such. If your thinking of the BUZZ, jump on it, I promise you won't be disappointed. Thanks to all hear that have helped, and hopefully I can keep this excitement contained, so that I don't completely drain the bank account. haha.

P.S. Short luch breaks = no time to edit my post, please excuse me for the sloppy, excited typing I have laid out for your sore eyes to read! haha

Good Day Peeps!
